The 10th Sino-EU Engineering Education Platform High-Level PhD Summer School Successfully Held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2025

On August 25, 2025, Shanghai Jiao Tong University hosted the 10th Sino-EU Engineering Education Platform (SEEEP) High-Level PhD Summer School at the Chan Sui Kau Hall. The event included significant attendees such as Vice President Zhang Zhaoguo and Chairman of the College Council Ge Tianshu from the Global Institute of Future Technology, along with faculty members and international scholars from associated institutions.

Program Overview

Organized under the SEEEP framework and the Sino-European Joint Doctoral School in Sustainable Engineering, the program is recognized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Graduate School and the National Graduate College for Elite Engineers. The summer school program alternates annually between China and Europe and was co-organized this year by Zhejiang University, KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, and Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. This edition involved over 10 faculty members and 49 doctoral students from various countries, including China, the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, and Norway.

Theme and Objectives

The theme of this year’s summer school was “Energy, Industry and AI: Affordable Energy and Technological Transformation.” Participants engaged in a series of lectures covering essential topics such as energy utilization and carbon dioxide capture, facilitated by experts and industry leaders. The main objectives included enhancing technical knowledge, promoting interdisciplinary communication, and encouraging cross-cultural collaboration among participants.

Group Activities and Industry Visits

Attendees were organized into groups for discussions and technical site visits to leading companies, including Carrier Air Conditioning and Huawei Technology. These excursions provided insights into current industry practices and innovations. Over the course of two weeks, participants developed research proposals and presented their findings as part of their academic exercises.

Goals of the Summer School

The summer school aimed to integrate resources from China and Europe, promote collaborative research, and enhance understanding of evolving energy technologies. It offered doctoral students the opportunity to gain insight into global research trends and establish international academic connections.
