Universitas Trunojoyo Madura and National Commission on Disabilities Strengthen Commitment to Inclusive Campus Through Collaborative FGD

Universitas Trunojoyo Madura (UTM) reaffirmed its commitment to building an inclusive and equitable academic environment through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in collaboration with the National Commission on Disabilities of the Republic of Indonesia. The event was also marked by the signing of an Implementation Agreement between the Information Systems Study Program and the Commission, held at Graha Utama UTM on July 1, 2026.
With the theme focusing on identifying collaboration opportunities in education, research, innovation, and community empowerment related to disability issues, the forum brought together university leaders, academics, and practitioners to strengthen inclusive practices in higher education.
In his remarks, UTM Rector Prof. Dr. Safi’ emphasized that the university is committed to providing equal access to education for all individuals, regardless of background or physical condition. He highlighted ongoing efforts to improve campus accessibility, including infrastructure upgrades such as the planned installation of elevators in several faculty buildings.
The FGD also featured inspiring testimonies from students with disabilities, including an LPDP awardee, who shared experiences on academic challenges and the importance of supportive learning environments.
Representatives from the National Commission on Disabilities contributed insights during interactive discussions aimed at developing practical strategies for inclusive education. The event concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen collaboration and ensure that UTM continues advancing as a truly inclusive campus.
