CMU Agribiz Faculty Excel at International GovDev Conference in Thailand

Three faculty members from the Department of Agribusiness Management at Central Mindanao University (CMU) attended the 4th International Conference on Governance and Development (ICGD), held from July 29 to August 1, 2025, at Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand. This conference provided a venue for academics, professionals, policymakers, and development practitioners to discuss and collaborate on various governance and societal progress issues.
Conference Theme and Participation
The theme of this year’s conference was “Governance for Impact: Championing Global Citizenship and Empowering Communities,” which centered on the significance of governance in fostering inclusive growth and building resilient communities. Approximately 230 attendees participated, representing a diverse array of government agencies, non-government organizations, local government units, and academic institutions from around the globe.
Pre-Conference Workshop
The event included a pre-conference workshop titled “Introduction to Development Entrepreneurship,” where CMU faculty contributed to discussions focused on policy reform frameworks aimed at generating sustainable impacts.
Research Presentations
At the conference, CMU faculty showcased their research and extension initiatives, addressing important challenges within agriculture and rural development. Dr. Teddy E. Colipano presented findings on enhancing farmer resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically detailing strategies to improve the knowledge of farmers regarding agricultural technologies and farm business management in Bukidnon, Philippines.
Furthermore, Prof. Sheila C. Poonon highlighted the “Central Mindanao University Technology Business Incubator,” which is designed to support agri-aqua enterprises and promote innovation related to rural development. Dr. Hazel E. Soliven also shared a poster presentation focusing on “Evaluating the Adlai Value Chain in Bukidnon,” emphasizing the crop’s potential to foster sustainable livelihoods and market growth.

The faculty members’ participation at the ICGD reflects CMU’s dedication to engaging in global knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration aimed at addressing community development challenges.
