Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology Wins Second Prize at 4th China–ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

On 25 June, the finals of the 4th China–ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition were successfully held in Vientiane, Laos. Making its debut in the competition, the team from Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology impressed judges with its project “AI-Empowered Innovation Manufacturing,” securing second prize in the enterprise category and ranking third overall among strong international contenders.
Organised under the guidance of China’s Ministry of Science and Technology and ASEAN-related agencies, the competition has become a key platform for global innovation exchange. This year’s edition attracted participation from 41 countries and regions, highlighting its growing international reach and influence in promoting artificial intelligence-driven solutions across diverse industries.
Since February, Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology had fielded five teams, with the award-winning project emerging from 552 entries through multiple rounds of selection. The final stage featured 20 outstanding projects from across China, Southeast Asia, and beyond.
During the finals, teams presented their projects in a 7-minute pitch followed by 5 minutes of Q&A. The university’s team stood out for its strong technical foundation, clear market positioning, and well-structured presentation, earning high recognition from the judging panel.
The achievement reflects the university’s growing strength in AI and smart manufacturing, as well as its commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and regional academic collaboration.
