Mahidol University and University of Strathclyde Collaborate to Promote Campus Entrepreneurship

Mahidol University International College (MUIC) has entered into a partnership with the University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom to advance campus entrepreneurship. This initiative was marked by a seminar-workshop titled “Entrepreneurial Thinking & Value Creation: Pathways to Impact,” which took place on March 19–20, 2026, at Charinyarasami Hall.
Objective of the Initiative
The primary objective of the initiative was to foster entrepreneurial thinking and value creation within higher education. The seminar featured insights from Professor Eleanor Shaw OBE FAoSS FRSA, an Associate Principal at the University of Strathclyde. She shared strategies derived from her university’s “Strathclyde Inspire” program, which promotes the entrepreneurial development of students and staff.
Focus of the Workshop
The workshop’s first day focused on MUIC’s executive team, emphasizing the establishment of an entrepreneurship-centered framework designed to support faculty members in pursuing entrepreneurial endeavors across various disciplines. The aim is to generate impactful outcomes and enhance value creation within academic work.
Day Two Highlights
On the second day, MUIC Dean Professor Chulathida Chomchai delivered welcome remarks, underscoring the importance of integrating entrepreneurial thinking into teaching and research practices. Professor Shaw led sessions intended to provide faculty members with practical tools to motivate students in exploring their entrepreneurial potential.
Impact and Insights
Participants reported that the workshop offered valuable insights into how an entrepreneurial mindset can enhance the academic environment. The discussions encouraged faculty members to seek pathways for impact, including avenues such as commercialization, social enterprises, or policy reforms relevant to their areas of expertise. This collaboration represents a significant development in MUIC’s aspiration to become a leading center for academic and social innovation.
