Chula Co-Hosts Thai-Chinese Youth Cultural Exchange Program to Celebrate 50 Years of Friendship

On January 14, 2026, the Thailand–China Youth Cultural Exchange Program, titled “Youth Power: Creativity Without Borders,” was held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The event celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China, marking this milestone as the “Golden 50 Years of Thai–Chinese Friendship.” The program, co-organized by the China Intercontinental Communication Center (CICC) and Chulalongkorn University, aimed to strengthen cultural exchange and enhance connections between the peoples of both nations.
Opening Ceremony and Distinguished Speakers
The opening ceremony included remarks from various officials, such as Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University; Ms. Li Mian, Director of the International Communication Center of the CICC; Mr. Yang Xiaolong, Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand; Mr. Sermkit Chaimongkol, Inspector General of the Ministry of Culture; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok. Additionally, the event featured the launch of the exhibition “Youth Power: Creativity Without Borders,” which presented creative works inspired by the cultural heritage of both nations.
Activities and Engagement
Activities on January 14 included a roundtable discussion, a contemporary sculpture exhibition, and displays of artistic expressions rooted in the cultural traditions of Thailand and China. Participants from various fields, including arts and culture, film, creative industries, and mass media, engaged in promoting sustainable cultural cooperation. The initiative sought to encourage ongoing cultural innovation, enhance mutual understanding, and provide a platform for young individuals to build friendships and share inspiration.
Public Exhibition
From January 15 to 16, the exhibition was open to the public, offering attendees the opportunity to explore contemporary art installations and works that reflect the cultural narratives of both countries.
