Jesselton University College organized Bubur Lambuk Perdana Program for the Raya 2025
Kota Kinabalu, 7 March – In the spirit of Ramadan, JUC, in collaboration with the JUC Staff Club and all staffs, successfully organized the Bubur Lambuk Perdana Program, an initiative aimed at spreading kindness and fostering community spirit among students. Held on 7 March, this program provided free servings of the beloved traditional dish, bubur lambuk, to students, creating a warm and festive atmosphere on campus.
The event aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 1, which focuses on eradicating poverty. By distributing free meals, JUC helped alleviate food insecurity among students, ensuring they had access to nourishing food during the fasting month.
JUC’s dedicated team of staffs and student volunteers worked together to prepare and distribute the porridge, which was made with a blend of traditional spices, meat, and coconut milk, a comforting and nutritious dish commonly enjoyed during Ramadan. The initiative also strengthened bonds among students and staffs, fostering a sense of togetherness and shared celebration.
Students who participated in the event expressed their appreciation for the effort, highlighting how such programs make Ramadan more special. “It’s really nice to receive a warm meal, especially during this busy time of the semester. It brings a sense of home and unity,” shared one student.
A JUC representative expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic participation, emphasizing the importance of community engagement. “Ramadan is a time for giving, and we are happy to see students and staffs enjoying and appreciating this initiative,” they said.
The Bubur Lambuk Perdana Program received positive feedback from students and staffs, many of whom enjoyed the dish and the opportunity to connect with one another. JUC hopes to continue similar community focused initiatives in the future, reinforcing its commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive campus environment.
