Udinus DKV Student Wins First Prize in Central Java Peksimida 2026 Photography Competition, Advances to National Level

A sixth-semester Visual Communication Design (DKV) student from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), Semarang, Helga Archi Kadira, has achieved First Prize in the photography category at the Central Java Student Art Week (Peksimida) 2026, held on 27 June 2026. Her photo essay titled “Muda Berkarya, Merawat Sejarah” earned her top recognition and secured her position as a Central Java delegate for the national Pekan Seni Mahasiswa Nasional (Peksiminas).
Helga’s award-winning work highlights perseverance as its central theme, reflecting the spirit of the competition. She shared that the idea emerged at the last moment after visiting the Johar Market area in search of inspiration. A chance discovery of a local exhibition site, despite being officially closed, became the turning point that shaped her photographic narrative.
According to Helga, the work represents her belief that creative efforts made today serve as long-term investments for both personal growth and cultural heritage. Her achievement underscores the strength of experiential and reflective storytelling in visual communication design.
Udinus Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Dra. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., praised the accomplishment, noting the rigorous judging process and emphasizing the responsibility that comes with representing the province at the national level. Helga will now prepare to compete in Peksiminas, carrying forward both institutional and regional expectations.
