Hong Kong Polytechnic University Establishes Patriotic Education Base in Xi’an
Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) have formalized a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at establishing a Patriotic Education Base in Xi’an. This ceremony was held on November 26 at Xi’an Jiaotong University in Shaanxi province, marking a key development in the collaboration between the two institutions.
Memorandum Signing
The memorandum was signed by Zhang Liqun, president of Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Teng Jinguang, president of PolyU. Several notable officials, including Lin Dahui, chairman of PolyU’s Board of Directors, attended the event.
Emphasizing Long-standing Relationships
Zhang Liqun emphasized the long-standing relationship between the two universities, highlighting their accomplishments in talent development, research, and innovation. He noted that the new base is a significant advancement in promoting students’ moral and intellectual growth in line with national rejuvenation efforts.
Significance of the Initiative
According to Zhang, “This initiative will deepen and broaden our cooperative efforts, significantly contributing to national and regional development strategies.”
PolyU’s Commitment
Teng Jinguang reiterated PolyU’s dedication to enhancing students’ patriotism, global awareness, and social responsibility. He expressed optimism that the new base would effectively leverage collaborative resources to educate students and achieve meaningful results.

The establishment of the base is anticipated to provide young people from Hong Kong with opportunities to learn about Chinese culture, understand developments in national technology, and engage in collaborations between industry and academia, as indicated by Teng.

Lu Jianjun, secretary of the Party Committee at Xi’an Jiaotong University, praised the partnership for fostering exchanges between educational institutions in mainland China and Hong Kong. He stated that the base exemplifies their shared educational vision and the strengthening of their collaborative relationship.

Following the ceremony, participants visited Xi’an Jiaotong University’s Innovation Port Digital Exhibition Hall and the Shaanxi Magnesium-based New Materials Engineering Research Center, where they examined the university’s contributions to technological progress.
