Chung-Ang University Partners with HUTECH for International Collaboration in Logistics

Chung-Ang University has formalized a collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at supporting international cooperation in logistics. The MOU was signed on December 11 during a visit to Vietnam and seeks to establish a comprehensive partnership between the two institutions.

Signing Ceremony

The signing ceremony featured notable representatives from both universities, including Chung-Ang University’s President Park Sang-gue, Vice President for International Affairs Woo Su-han, and Shin Joong-beom, Head of Development & Alumni Affairs. HUTECH was represented by Chairman Kien Xuan Hung, Vice President for International Affairs Ly Thien Trang, among other officials. Discussions during the event concentrated on practical plans for cooperation.

About HUTECH

Established in 1995, HUTECH is a private university in Vietnam with an enrollment of approximately 40,000 students across 63 departments. The university is recognized for initiatives like the Vietnam-Korea Institute of Technology, which encourages academic exchanges with Korea and aims to develop skilled graduates. The partnership with Chung-Ang University, which began in 2022 through an exchange agreement, is set to expand into further collaborative projects.

Objectives of the MOU

A primary objective of the MOU is to jointly apply for the 2027 “Leading University for International Cooperation Development and Support Project.” This initiative is managed by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea. Under the terms of the agreement, the institutions plan to establish a new Integrated International Logistics program at HUTECH, supported by Official Development Assistance funding.

Funding and Support Initiatives

If the application is successful, the program could receive KRW 2.5 billion in government funding over a span of seven years. This funding would facilitate various initiatives, including internships, startup support, short-term training, dual degree programs, and franchise education.

Future Expectations

President Park articulated expectations regarding the agreement, indicating that it could contribute to establishing a global academic framework and positively influence the logistics sector in both Korea and Vietnam. HUTECH is anticipated to reaffirm its commitments and intentions by revisiting Chung-Ang University in January 2026.
