UNP-MDSO Launches Comprehensive First Aid and Medical Support Program at the 77th PASWI National Convention in Vigan

The Medical and Dental Services Office (MDSO) at the University of Northern Philippines (UNP), in collaboration with the College of Nursing and the College of Health Sciences, implemented a First Aid Assistance and Medical Support Program during the 77th Philippine Association of Social Workers, Inc. (PASWI) National Convention held from October 21 to 24, 2025, in Vigan City.

Collaboration for Safety and Health

This collaboration aimed to ensure the safety and health of all participants attending the convention. A team of skilled nurses, health professionals, and student volunteers from UNP was designated to provide on-site medical care, first aid response, and health monitoring throughout the four-day event.

Commitment to Community Health

The program offered essential emergency assistance while also reflecting the university’s commitment to community-oriented health initiatives. This engagement emphasized UNP’s role in delivering professional support beyond its campus, aligning with its mission to promote holistic development and community well-being.

Protecting Delegates

The initiative played a crucial role in protecting the health and safety of over 3,000 delegates at the national convention. Medical teams were strategically positioned throughout the event venue to deliver immediate first aid and health monitoring services, contributing to a secure environment for all attendees.

Practical Learning Experience for Students

Moreover, the program provided a valuable practical learning experience for students from UNP’s College of Nursing and College of Health Sciences. Under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals, including physicians, dentists, and nurses, students had the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world situations, enhance their clinical skills, and develop a sense of professional responsibility through active participation in healthcare delivery.
