University of Jordan Launches Research Group to Advance Efficient Factory Operations

The University of Jordan (UJ) has launched the Efficient Factory Operation Management (EFOM) research group to develop practical solutions for industrial and managerial challenges while strengthening organisational efficiency and competitiveness.

The group will conduct applied research in operations and operations management, focusing on improving quality, productivity and sustainability while supporting industries in adapting to digital transformation and emerging technologies.

Its research areas include production and operations management, supply chain and logistics optimisation, project management, human resource management and total quality management. Researchers will also explore artificial intelligence and data analytics to improve decision-making and develop smart operational systems for industrial and service organisations.

EFOM aims to promote multidisciplinary research, publish findings in leading international journals and establish partnerships with universities, businesses and industrial institutions locally and internationally. The group will also involve postgraduate students in applied research projects and develop innovative solutions that contribute to national economic development and sustainability.

The research group brings together academics, researchers and industry experts from management, engineering, information technology and related disciplines. Members include scholars from the University of Jordan, Universiti Sains Malaysia, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Qassim University, Al-Balqa Applied University and Fujairah University, alongside industry professionals.

The initiative marks a significant addition to UJ’s research ecosystem, strengthening collaboration between academia and industry and supporting more efficient, competitive and sustainable organisations.
