Chula University Collaborates with UCLA TFT to Enhance Thailand’s Creative Industry and Media Standards

Chulalongkorn University has entered into a collaboration with the UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television (UCLA TFT) to develop the “UCLA TFT–CU” project. This initiative aims to provide professional training designed to enhance the skills of Thai creators and media professionals, aligning them with industry standards prevalent in Hollywood. This partnership is expected to strengthen Thailand’s position as a burgeoning digital content hub in Asia.
Collaboration Announcement
The collaboration was announced during the event “VISION to SCREEN: HOLLYWOOD EDITION – Advancing Thai Media with World-Class Professional Training,” which took place on December 11, 2025, at The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok. Discussions at the event included insights from Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, and Professor Fabian Wagmister, Chair of the Department of Film, Television, and Digital Media at UCLA.
Objectives of the UCLA TFT–CU Project
The objectives of the UCLA TFT–CU project include fostering academic cooperation through programs in film production, digital content creation, performing arts, and media business. This partnership is intended to enhance Chulalongkorn University’s standing as a center for academic excellence and innovation within the creative sector, while also preparing students and industry professionals for global opportunities.

Moreover, the collaboration is anticipated to deliver cultural and economic benefits, particularly through the creation of highly skilled jobs and the stimulation of growth in tourism, trade, and the digital content economy in Thailand.
