6th Industry-Academia Forum: AI Convergence Innovation Human Resources Development Center Event Recap

The 6th Industry-Academia Collaboration Forum, organized by the AI Convergence Innovation Human Resources Development Center, was held on April 1, 2025, at the Lee Sam-bong Hall in Ewha Womans University. The event aimed to facilitate the development of future leaders in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector.
Forum Overview
Under the theme “Ewha Womans University, a Leading University Fostering Future AI Talent,” the forum attracted over 200 participants, including representatives from companies such as Kakaopay Securities and Fasoo, along with various academic stakeholders.
Opening Address
The forum began with an opening address from Professor HyungJune Lee, Director of the AI Convergence Innovation Human Resources Development Project Team. This was followed by congratulatory remarks from Ewha President Hyang-Sook Lee and Professor Min Soo Lee, Dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence. Keynote presentations were delivered by Shin Ho-cheol, CEO of Kakaopay Securities, and Yoon Kyung Koo, Executive Director of Fasoo, who spoke on “Future AI Finance” and “Future AI Security,” respectively. Attendees, particularly students, noted that the lectures provided valuable insights into the evolving AI industry.
Awards and Discussions
The latter part of the forum included an award ceremony recognizing outstanding AI Convergence Creative Projects conducted by master’s and doctoral students in the AI Convergence major. Additionally, a roundtable discussion with industry partners was conducted, featuring companies collaborating with the AI Convergence Innovation Human Resources Development Project Team.
University Initiatives
Ewha Womans University established an undergraduate program in Artificial Intelligence in 2022 and launched the College of Artificial Intelligence in 2023. These initiatives, supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT through the 2022 AI Convergence Innovation Human Resources Development Project, have contributed to advancements in both education and research within this dynamic field. The university is focused on fostering practical industry-academia collaboration to prepare skilled professionals capable of addressing significant challenges in the AI sector.
