From March 1 to March 4, 2025, a group of students from HELP University’s School of Hospitality and Tourism participated in a study trip to Nha Trang, Vietnam, as part of the TRM229 International Tour module. The trip was led by Senior Lecturer Ms. Rajesvare KD Rada and included five students who undertook the planning and execution of the tour, thereby gaining practical experience in travel management and interaction with the local culture.
Objectives of the Study Trip
The primary objective of the study trip was to facilitate experiential learning, enabling students to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world contexts. Participants engaged in various responsibilities, including itinerary creation, budget management, and transportation coordination, which contributed to a deeper understanding of tour operations. The program adopted a holistic evaluation approach, focusing on various competencies such as problem-solving, teamwork, adaptability, and cultural awareness—key attributes for success in the hospitality and tourism sectors.
Educational Framework
The educational framework aligned with constructivist theories, encouraging students to interact with service providers and address logistical challenges while reflecting on their learning experiences. Nha Trang presented a range of tourism opportunities, featuring visits to cultural and historical landmarks including Long Son Pagoda, Nha Trang Cathedral, and Ponagar Temple. The group also explored local commerce at Dam Market and examined the management of coastal destinations at Paradise Bay.
