Xi’an Jiaotong University Holds Annual Alumni Spring Tea Gathering 2025

Xi’an Jiaotong University recently hosted its annual spring tea gathering for alumni on March 1, 2025, which attracted over 200 participants. This included university officials and alumni representing various sectors in Xi’an.
Emphasizing Alumni Contributions
During the event, Zhang Liqun, the university’s president and a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, emphasized the essential role that alumni play in supporting Xi’an Jiaotong University. He noted that insights and suggestions from alumni are vital for the institution’s development and underscored the importance of collaboration among industry, academia, and research for future advancements.
Recognition of Alumni Achievements
Zhang acknowledged the accomplishments of alumni as an indicator of the university’s success and encouraged ongoing excellence in their respective fields while maintaining connections to their alma mater. He called upon the Xi’an Alumni Association to collaborate with other alumni groups to develop standardized action plans, create tailored events for alumni, and enhance the overall effectiveness of the alumni network.
Discussions on Development and Collaboration
The gathering featured discussions by alumni on topics pertinent to the development of Xi’an Jiaotong University, cooperation with enterprises, advancements in technology, and talent cultivation, thereby providing the university with vital feedback.
Collaboration Initiatives and Donations
Additionally, the event included the signing and unveiling of plaques for various collaboration projects between the university and its alumni. Significant initiatives launched at the gathering included the “Pioneer Co-Creation Technology Achievement Commercialization Fund,” established in partnership with alumni enterprises and listed companies. Other notable collaborations featured the establishment of the “Advanced Plasma Surface Technology and Equipment Joint Laboratory” by the School of Materials Science and Engineering and the School of Electrical Engineering in association with Actionpower. Furthermore, the Micro/Nano Scale Materials Behavior Research Center and Xi’an XICE Testing Technology Co. co-founded the Equipment Hospital Research Institute. The Xi’an Alumni Association also pledged a donation of 3 million yuan (approximately $413,400) to support the university’s “Everest Program.”
