Australia Keen to Expand Academic, Research and Cultural Collaboration with Dhaka University

Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Susan Ryle paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam at his office on June 24, 2026. The meeting was also attended by Cultural Affairs Adviser Advocate Nitai Roy Chowdhury and Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences Professor Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir.
During the discussion, both sides explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Dhaka University and Australian universities in education, research, culture and technology. Particular emphasis was placed on expanding joint research initiatives and academic exchange programmes in key fields such as engineering, computer science, information technology, electronics, nuclear engineering, robotics and other emerging scientific disciplines.
Professor Dr. Abdus Salam highlighted Dhaka University’s achievements in education, research, science, technology, culture and innovation. He noted that the university has introduced several modern academic programmes, including engineering studies, and continues to play a significant role in national development and human resource advancement.
Susan Ryle praised Dhaka University’s recent accomplishments and its growing presence in international rankings. She acknowledged Bangladesh’s progress in higher education and research and expressed Australia’s interest in deepening collaboration with Dhaka University. She also assured support for future partnership initiatives.
Following the meeting, the delegation visited the “Antarctic Science & Climate Change” exhibition at the Department of Oceanography and participated in a panel discussion.
