KuArts Opens New Opportunities for UMPSA Senandika Club to Engage with the Arts Community

The inaugural Kuantan Arts Festival (KuArts) brought together artists, students, creative practitioners, and members of the public in a three-day celebration of arts and culture aimed at strengthening the creative ecosystem of Malaysia’s East Coast.
Held across several locations in Kuantan’s historic town center, the festival featured a diverse range of activities, including theatre and monologue performances, music showcases, visual art exhibitions, digital art installations, film screenings, creative workshops, and arts forums.
As part of the festival, the Senandika Club of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) was invited to perform in the “Secotek Cerita” segment at Blok56 Café. The club presented Aku Bukan Parewa, a monologue written by Yusuf Bakar, portraying the story of a man determined to seek justice despite being pursued by the authorities.
For Mohamad Faris Zami Mohamad Azmi, a second-year student from the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronic Engineering Technology, the performance marked his first monologue presentation and first appearance outside the university.
The participation provided valuable exposure for UMPSA students to collaborate with the wider arts community while showcasing their creative talents. KuArts also highlighted the growing role of arts and culture in revitalizing local communities and supporting emerging young artists.
