Medical students from Universitas Airlangga’s Faculty of Medicine achieved first place at the 2025 National Anatomy Olympiad AORTA, which took place from February 21 to 23, 2025, at Hasanuddin University in Makassar.
Delegation and Support
The UNAIR delegation was represented by Deva Fitra Firdausa Anwar and Syauqie Alifian Wandhara, who expressed appreciation for the faculty’s support, which fosters a culture of striving for excellence at the national level.
Competition Structure
The competition challenged participants’ anatomical knowledge through multiple rigorous rounds designed to assess their proficiency. The UNAIR team excelled in each stage of the contest, beginning with the preliminary round, where they answered 100 questions within a limited timeframe, achieving the highest preliminary score of 520 points.
Semifinals and Finals
The semifinals included tasks such as anatomy memory exercises and cadaver-based diagnostics. In the final round, a rally-style contest featuring four universities, the team secured the championship by being the first to cross the finish line.
Factors Leading to Success
Anwar noted that the competition evaluated not only academic knowledge but also endurance, with the team’s success attributed to thorough preparation and effective collaboration. The victory was particularly meaningful for the UNAIR team as they aimed to improve upon a previous year’s performance that resulted in an Honorable Mention.
