IBIC 2025: Celebrating Innovation and Sustainability at Multimedia University

The International Business Idea Challenge 2025 (IBIC 2025) concluded on January 23, 2025, at the Melaka campus of Multimedia University. The event aimed to promote student innovation and the development of sustainable enterprise solutions. The closing ceremony featured remarks from Prof. Dr. Wong Eng Kiong, the Melaka Campus Director and Vice President of Student Experience and Entrepreneurship Development (SEED), as well as Dr. Hasmida Jamaluddin, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Business (FOB). Prof. Wong also attended a project showcase, which highlighted the event’s educational significance.
Platform for Innovation
IBIC 2025 offered a platform for students to present innovative and sustainable projects addressing global challenges. Organized by Mr. Vincent Chan and Ms. Ikha Fadzila from FOB, the competition encouraged first-semester students to create solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Industry representatives from organizations such as MRANTI, Cyberview, Vesbo, and SAMENTA evaluated the projects and provided valuable feedback. Support was also offered by Dr. Yeo Sook Fern, Director of the Centre of Excellence in Innovation and Communication.
Awards and Recognition
During the event, Team The Storyteller Card Game was awarded the championship title and received a cash prize of RM500. Team JM secured the first runner-up position, and Team Jobify: Pathways to Prosperity was recognized as the second runner-up, receiving cash prizes of RM300 and RM200, respectively. Four participants were also honored with Best Presenter awards for their effective communication of ideas.
Significance of Innovation and Sustainability
IBIC 2025 emphasized the importance of innovation in solving global challenges and highlighted the necessity of sustainable solutions. Participants were acknowledged for their creativity and commitment throughout the competition.
