Prof. Qu Ronghai Awarded 2024 IEEE IAS Outstanding Achievement Recognition at HUST SEEE
Professor Qu Ronghai of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (SEEE) at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) has been awarded the prestigious 2024 IEEE Industry Applications Society (IEEE IAS) Outstanding Achievement Award. The award was presented during a ceremony on October 24 at the IEEE Energy Conversion Congress & Expo (ECCE) and the 59th IEEE IAS Annual Meeting in Phoenix, USA.
Acknowledgment of Contributions
The IEEE IAS Outstanding Achievement Award acknowledges Professor Qu for his significant contributions to the fields of flux modulation machines and wind generators. He is noted as the first recipient from mainland China in the area of motor technology since the award’s establishment in 1969.
International Conferences
Between October 10 and 24, a series of international conferences concentrating on electrical and electromechanical energy conversion were conducted in Phoenix, with the award ceremony included in these events, highlighting important advancements in the field.
Research and Leadership
Professor Qu has conducted extensive research related to motor design theories and applications, leading several national key projects and engaging in international collaborations. He heads the Center for Advanced Electrical Machines & Drives (CAEMD), recognized for its notable contributions and achievements in motor technologies, which has enhanced its reputation on a global scale.
Professional Recognition
In addition to this recent recognition, Professor Qu is an IEEE Fellow and a member of various professional organizations, including the China Electrotechnical Society and the International Conference on Electrical Machines. He has previously received several awards, including the Gold Medal at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva and the Invention and Entrepreneurship Award from the China Association of Inventions.
