BUBT Research Week 2026: Celebrating Innovation and Research Advancement at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology

The Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) recently hosted its Research Week 2026, organized by the BUBT Research Graduate School. The event, held from January 25 to January 29, 2026, aimed to highlight the university’s commitment to enhancing its research culture.

Activities and Participation

During the week, a variety of research-focused activities took place, providing an opportunity for faculty members, researchers, and students to participate in faculty-specific research presentations, poster exhibitions, panel discussions, workshops, and a Student Research Idea Competition.

Awards Presentation

The closing ceremony featured an awards presentation recognizing significant contributions to research, publications, and innovation by faculty, researchers, and students. Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, the Adviser of BUBT, served as the chief guest and presented awards to individuals for their exemplary work.

Recognitions for Faculty

Dr. Muhammad Aminur Rahaman from the Department of Data Science & Engineering received the High Impact Factor Publication Award for his article published in the journal *Artificial Intelligence Review*, which is noted for its significant impact factor. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al Mansur was honored with the Top Research Citation Award for achieving 506 citations in the year 2025 and was also recognized as a Top Research Contributor with 31 published papers associated with BUBT.

Total Awards Distributed

A total of 36 awards were distributed during the ceremony based on the Annual Research Awards criteria. This included 18 Research Awards, 14 Research Excellence Awards, and four Outstanding Research Awards given to faculty members for their publications in prominent international journals.

Acknowledgment of Accomplishments

Recognition was also given to faculty members from various departments for their research accomplishments, including Md. Masudul Islam and Umme Muslima. Research Excellence Awards were presented to Shimanto Saha and Dr. Md. Shamsul Arefin for their contributions to impactful research.

Top Research Assistants

To promote participation among research assistants, the Top Research Assistant Award was given to Md. Mithun Hossain, S. M. Masfequier Rahman Swapno, and Md. Shariful Islam, who placed first, second, and third, respectively.

Women in Research

Also recognized was Maharin Afroj, a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, who received the Top Woman Research Contributor Award, reflecting the increasing acknowledgment of female researchers in the field.

Best Student Thesis/Project Award

The Best Student Thesis/Project Award was presented to student projects across various disciplines, including a Gold Award for the project “Bilingual Bangla OCR for Rural Empowerment” from the Computer Science and Engineering department.

Student Research Idea Competition

In the Student Research Idea Competition, Md. Ariful Islam and his team from the Textile Engineering department secured first place, with additional awards given to contributors from the Computer Science and Engineering and Law & Justice departments.

Conclusion

The event concluded with commendations for the organizing committee, led by Professor Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali, Vice Chancellor of BUBT, and Dr. Muhammad Aminur Rahaman, Dean of BUBT Research Graduate School, for their effective management of the event aimed at promoting research and innovation within the university.
