DU Pro-Vice Chancellor Receives National Environment Award for Research and Innovation

Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) of the University of Dhaka, has received the National Environment Award 2025 from the Prime Minister of Bangladesh in recognition of his outstanding contributions to environmental research and technological innovation.
The award was presented during the national celebration of World Environment Day 2026 held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre. Dr. Salam was honoured in the Research and Technology Innovation category for his significant contributions to environmental studies and the development of innovative solutions.
A professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Dhaka, Dr. Salam has dedicated nearly 25 years to research in environmental science, air pollution, atmospheric science, climate change, and public health. His work has contributed to improving air quality assessment, identifying pollution sources, and advancing environmental technologies in Bangladesh.
Dr. Salam has published numerous research articles in internationally recognized journals and has participated in scientific conferences and workshops worldwide. He has also supervised more than 150 research theses, supporting the development of future researchers in environmental science and technology.
The recognition highlights the University of Dhaka’s continued commitment to impactful research and innovation addressing global environmental challenges. Faculty members and university officials congratulated Dr. Salam on receiving this prestigious national honour, which recognizes individuals and institutions making significant contributions to environmental protection, education, awareness, and technological advancement.
