Recruitment Now Open for Host Institutions: 2026–2027 Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program in Vietnam

The U.S. Mission to Vietnam has initiated the recruitment process for educational institutions in Vietnam that are interested in hosting Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) for the academic year 2026–2027. This program aims to enhance the quality of English education and promote cultural exchange between Vietnam and the United States.

Eligibility and Application Process

Eligible institutions, including high schools, colleges, and universities located outside of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, are invited to apply for the opportunity to host native English speakers from the United States for the duration of one academic year, from September 2026 to May 2027. The designated Fulbright English Teaching Assistants will concentrate on supporting English language instruction, focusing on developing listening and speaking skills, while also participating in various cultural exchange activities at their host institutions.

About the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program

The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program was launched in Vietnam in 2008 with the goal of improving English language learning across the country and facilitating significant cultural exchanges between American and Vietnamese students. This initiative aims to enhance mutual understanding and foster long-term cooperation between the United States and Vietnam. All ETAs are college graduates from the United States with a commitment to teaching English abroad and serving as cultural ambassadors.

Encouragement to Participate

As part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence, the U.S. Mission encourages Vietnamese educational institutions to consider hosting a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant. This initiative underscores the mutual dedication of both nations to advance educational cooperation and strengthen interpersonal ties.

Application Deadline and Contact Information

Applications from interested institutions are due by March 15, 2026. Further information and application materials are available on the Fulbright website. Inquiries can also be directed to Ms. Vu Thi Diu, Program Coordinator of the Fulbright Program in Vietnam, through the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi via email at [email protected] or by telephone at +84-24-3850-5000 (Ext. 6033).
