US Hosts 13th Reunion Summit of Chiao-Tung University Alumni Association in America
The 13th Chiao-Tung University Alumni Association in America Reunion Summit was held from May 24 to 25 in Silicon Valley, California, attracting over 600 alumni from various regions. Representatives from institutions including Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Southwest Jiaotong University, and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University participated in the event.
University Presidents Forum
During the University Presidents Forum, Shan Zhiwei, Vice-President of XJTU, outlined the institution’s initiatives focused on integrating education, technology, and talent development. Emphasis was placed on programs designed to align industry needs with educational outcomes, as well as fostering collaborative innovation in talent cultivation and planning for future academic disciplines.
Shan engaged in discussions with Zhao Xicheng, a 1946 alumnus and former chairman of the Americas Alumni Association, and Zhao’s daughter, Elaine Chao, extending an invitation for their visit to XJTU to acknowledge their contributions to the association.
XJTU Delegation and Symposiums
The XJTU delegation organized various symposiums throughout the summit, encouraging alumni to reflect on their shared experiences and discuss development strategies for the university. Shan highlighted advancements by XJTU in areas such as talent development, international collaborations, and scientific research, utilizing a platform known as iHarbour.
Celebrations and Feedback
Furthermore, Shan presented flags to North American alumni organizations and invited participants to the upcoming 130th anniversary celebrations of XJTU. The summit concluded with alumni expressing their congratulations on the university’s accomplishments and providing feedback for future growth.
