“XJTU Academician Xu Zongben Receives China’s Top AI Honor”

Xu Zongben, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a professor at the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), has been awarded the 2024 Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence (AI) Science and Technology Achievement Award by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence. This award is regarded as the highest honor in the field of AI within China.

About the Wu Wenjun AI Science and Technology Award

Established in 2011, the Wu Wenjun AI Science and Technology Award is named after Wu Wenjun, a renowned figure in AI and the former honorary president of the association. The award aims to recognize notable contributions to AI research and innovation. Xu’s extensive research in machine learning, big data, and artificial intelligence has led to significant advancements in mathematical theories, algorithms, and applications, thus contributing to the progress of AI technologies.

Previous Recognitions and Contributions

In addition to this recent recognition, Xu Zongben has previously been honored with the State Natural Science Award (Second Prize) in both 2007 and 2023, and the State Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Prize) in 2011, along with various other prestigious awards in mathematics. He has also played a significant role in the international academic community, having delivered lectures at major conferences, including the 26th International Congress of Mathematicians.
