UPM Strengthens Student Agropreneurship and SDG Goals Through Agropreneur Harapan Bootcamp

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) brought together 150 participants, including 100 students and 50 supervised individuals (Orang Diselia, ODS), for the two-day Agropreneur Harapan Bootcamp at Kolej Sultan Alaeddin Suleiman Shah (KOSASS). The programme aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge of agropreneurship, modern agriculture, and sustainable business development while promoting social inclusion through entrepreneurship.

Organised to equip participants with practical entrepreneurial skills, the bootcamp covered business model development, digital marketing, financing opportunities, business plan preparation, Business Model Canvas, entrepreneurship inspiration, and company registration procedures with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM). The initiative sought to build participants’ confidence in developing competitive and sustainable agro-based enterprises.

Students highlighted the programme’s value in enhancing communication, leadership, networking, and teamwork skills while gaining fresh perspectives on entrepreneurship as a future career path. Interaction between UPM students and ODS participants also fostered mutual learning, community engagement, and greater understanding of inclusive economic empowerment.

The programme was jointly organised by UPM’s Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Graduate Marketability (CEM), the Malaysian Prison Department, the Faculty of Agriculture, and five UPM residential colleges. Through initiatives such as the Agropreneur Harapan Bootcamp, UPM continues to promote entrepreneurship, sustainable agriculture, and community collaboration while supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
