14th World Peace Forum Opens at Tsinghua, Focusing on Global Governance and Security Cooperation

Tsinghua University and the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs jointly launched the 14th World Peace Forum on 3 July, bringing together around 400 policymakers, diplomats, scholars, and international experts to discuss pressing global challenges. Held under the theme “Global Governance and International Security Cooperation: Integrity, Innovation, and Inclusiveness,” the three-day forum provides a platform for dialogue on strengthening international cooperation and promoting global stability.
Chinese Vice President Han Zheng addressed the opening ceremony, highlighting China’s commitment to enhancing global governance, advancing international security cooperation, and fostering responsible artificial intelligence (AI) governance. He reaffirmed support for multilateralism, the central role of the United Nations, and inclusive economic globalisation while calling for greater collaboration to address emerging global risks.
Tsinghua University President Li Luming emphasised the important role universities play in promoting cross-cultural understanding, cultivating globally minded talent, and contributing research-driven solutions to international challenges. He encouraged participants to deepen dialogue, strengthen mutual trust, and develop practical proposals for improving global governance.
The forum features four plenary sessions, a luncheon dialogue, and 21 panel discussions covering topics such as peacebuilding in the Middle East, major-power relations, Global South cooperation, and innovations in regional security architecture. Through these discussions, participants aim to advance international cooperation, support peaceful conflict resolution, and contribute to sustainable global development.
