On October 30, 2024, Professor Ding Kuiling, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), visited Osaka University (OU). This visit marked the first occasion for President Ding to travel to OU since taking office in February 2023. The longstanding relationship between SJTU and OU, which was solidified when SJTU became a Global Knowledge Partner in September 2021, continues to be a focal point for both institutions.
Reception at Osaka University
During the visit, President Ding was greeted by President Shojiro Nishio, Executive Vice Presidents Koichi Fukase and Beverly Anne Yamamoto, along with other members of the OU delegation. President Nishio shared insights from his prior visits to SJTU in 2016 and 2017, which served as a background for discussions centered on future collaborative educational and research initiatives.
Future Collaboration
Both universities expressed optimism that their ongoing partnership will facilitate significant advancements in tackling global challenges and enhancing the educational and research landscape.
