University of Malaya Welcomes 3,637 New Students for the 2026/2027 Academic Session

Universiti Malaya (UM) welcomed 3,637 new students for the 2026/2027 Academic Session, marking the beginning of a new academic journey for students enrolled in foundation and diploma programmes. The intake includes students from the Centre for Foundation Studies (PASUM), Universiti Malaya Centre for Continuing Education (UMCCED), and the Nursing College.
The annual Universiti Malaya Week of Welcome (UM WOW) programme served as more than an orientation session, introducing new students to UM’s culture of excellence, academic values and commitment to developing future leaders. UM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Noor Azuan Abu Osman, highlighted that the university aims to nurture students not only academically but also through character development, integrity and meaningful contributions to society.
The event also marked the 50th anniversary celebration of PASUM, recognising its longstanding contribution to education, talent development and national human capital growth since its establishment in 1977. The celebration coincided with UM’s 121st anniversary, themed “121 Years of Excellence, Weaving the Future.”
As students begin their studies at one of Malaysia’s leading universities, UM continues to strengthen its role in advancing education, research, innovation and community engagement while preparing graduates to meet future global challenges.
