IIT Kanpur Alumni Commit ₹10 Crore to Strengthen Student Housing Infrastructure

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has received a ₹10 crore commitment from distinguished alumnus Dr. Naresh Chand Gupta (BT/CSE/1988) and Mrs. Nidhi Gupta to support the development of student residential infrastructure on campus.

The contribution will fund the construction of a residential tower at the upcoming Hall of Residence 15, a major campus expansion project designed to address the growing need for quality student accommodation. The new residential facility, part of a four-tower development, will provide housing for approximately 1,000 students with modern amenities including study areas, recreational spaces, dining facilities, collaborative zones, and sustainability features such as solar energy systems and rainwater harvesting.

Dr. Gupta, founder of AccuraCap and a technology entrepreneur, is recognised for his contributions to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and India’s research and development ecosystem. He previously founded and expanded Adobe India into a leading global R&D centre and received IIT Kanpur’s Distinguished Alumnus Award 2025.

IIT Kanpur leadership expressed appreciation for the contribution, highlighting the important role of alumni support in advancing campus development and student success. The initiative reflects the institute’s commitment to creating future-ready infrastructure that promotes academic excellence, innovation, sustainability, and community building for future generations of students.
