HKU Engineering Partners with China State Construction to Support Future Engineering Talent

The Faculty of Engineering at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited (CSHK) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the CSHK HKU Engineering Flagship Programme Scholarship, strengthening collaboration between academia and industry while supporting the development of future engineering leaders.
Signed on 6 July 2026, the partnership will provide financial assistance, internship opportunities, and mentorship support for outstanding undergraduate students enrolled in HKU Engineering’s three flagship programmes: the Bachelor of Engineering Elite Programme, Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Science in Engineering in Artificial Intelligence in Engineering Programme, and Global Engineering Business Programme.
Under the five-year agreement from 2026/27 to 2030/31, CSHK will contribute HK$400,000 annually, providing a total donation of HK$2 million to fund scholarships for high-achieving students.
HKU and CSHK highlighted the importance of integrating academic knowledge with industry experience to nurture engineers equipped with technical expertise, innovation capabilities, and a global outlook. Through internships and executive mentorship, students will gain valuable exposure to real-world engineering practices and professional networks.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing engineering education, strengthening industry-academia partnerships, and supporting Hong Kong’s innovation and technology development. It aims to prepare the next generation of engineers to address future challenges and contribute to sustainable development.
