HKU Honors Three Distinguished Individuals with Honorary Degrees at 216th Congregation

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) conducted its 216th Congregation on November 26, 2025, during which it conferred honorary degrees on three notable individuals. The ceremony took place at Loke Yew Hall and was presided over by Dr. the Honourable Sir David Li, Pro-Chancellor of HKU.
Honorary Degree Recipients
The recipients of the honorary degrees included Professor Gang Chen, recognized for his leadership in power engineering and energy sciences, and Professor Arthur Li, an esteemed figure in education and healthcare in Hong Kong. Both were awarded the Doctor of Science honoris causa. Additionally, Dr. Patrick Poon, an actuary, business leader, and philanthropist, received the Doctor of Social Sciences honoris causa.
