CTPR Masterclass 2025: Expanded Format to Address Regional Demand at Multimedia University

The Converged Telecommunications Policy and Regulations (CTPR) Masterclass for 2025 launched on July 28, accommodating increased participation from the ASEAN region and beyond through an expanded format. The event was held at Zenith Hotel in Putrajaya and marked the first time the program was conducted in two separate cohorts.

Inauguration and Special Addresses

Professor Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, the President of Multimedia University (MMU), delivered a welcoming address at the inauguration, which included an opening ceremony officiated by Mr. Abdul Karim Fakir Ali, Managing Director of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). Additionally, a special address was given by Mr. Julian Gorman, Head of Asia Pacific at GSMA.

Program Cohorts and Schedule

Cohort 1 of the Masterclass ran from July 28 to August 1, 2025, with Cohort 2 scheduled for October 6 to October 10, 2025. This expansion aims to address the growing demand for professional development in digital policy and regulatory frameworks throughout the region. The initiative is jointly organized by MCMC, MMU, and GSMA, with support from MMU Cnergy, to strengthen policy and regulatory capacity within the evolving digital landscape.

Thematic Focus and Curriculum

The theme for this year’s program, “The Age of Intelligent Connectivity: 5G, AI, Security & Sustainability,” features sessions led by experts discussing critical topics such as AI governance, Open RAN, 6G and satellite technologies, cybersecurity, spectrum management, and sustainability in digital development. The curriculum also includes an industry site visit for practical exposure.

Professional Development and Accreditation

The Masterclass is acknowledged for its professional value and offers Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points accredited by the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT), as well as a potential credit transfer of up to 30% through APEL(C) for MMU’s Master’s in CTPR.

Historical Impact and Future Opportunities

Since its establishment in 2015, the CTPR Masterclass has provided over 300 professionals with a platform for knowledge exchange, regional collaboration, and innovation in telecommunications policy and regulation. Further details about the program are available on the CTPR website.
