Curtin Malaysia Strengthens Global Presence with Strategic Partnerships Signed with Leading Chinese Universities

On May 9, 2025, Curtin University Malaysia formalized strategic partnerships with three prominent Chinese institutions: Shenyang Aerospace University, Shenyang Normal University, and Liaoning Petroleum University. The signing of Memorandums of Intent (MoIs) represents a step towards enhancing international academic collaboration and strengthening the university’s global presence.

Commitment to Joint Academic Development

The MoIs were executed during three distinct online ceremonies, highlighting a commitment to joint academic development, talent exchange, and research initiatives to tackle global challenges. Professor Vincent Lee Chieng Chen, Interim Pro Vice-Chancellor, President, and Chief Executive of Curtin Malaysia, outlined the significance of international cooperation in furthering the university’s objectives.

Aim for Collaboration

These partnerships aim to foster collaboration in key areas such as sustainable energy, advanced engineering, global business, and educational systems. The agreements establish a framework for various initiatives, including joint research projects, staff and student exchange programs, and co-hosting academic events.

Participation and Leadership

Key members of Curtin Malaysia’s leadership team participated in the signing ceremonies, alongside representatives from CMC Consult Sdn. Bhd. and senior officials from the involved Chinese universities. The partnerships are anticipated to enhance academic connections and promote bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and China.
