The Global Village Summer Festival 2024 – University of Tsukuba Event
The Global Village Summer Festival 2024 was held on July 18 in the courtyard of Global Village at the University of Tsukuba, beginning at 6:30 PM. This annual event was established in 2018, coinciding with the opening of all Global Village buildings. Its purpose is to promote interaction between Japanese and international students living in the complex, as well as to give international students a chance to experience Japanese culture and traditions.
Festival Highlights
The 2024 festival featured participation from Global Village residents and short-term international students, facilitating community engagement. Key attractions included performances by the ‘Bon LIVE’ committee, which contributed to the festive atmosphere.
Activities at the Festival
Activities available at the festival encompassed votive tablet (Ema) making, traditional water balloon fishing, Japanese sparkler experiences, and cotton candy preparation. More than 200 students participated in the celebration, which emulated a classic Japanese summer festival.
Event Co-Hosts
The event was co-hosted by the University of Tsukuba and the Daiwa Lease Group, which oversees the management and operation of Global Village.
