Curtin Malaysia, AZAM Sarawak Strengthen Collaboration to Develop Youth Leadership

Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) and Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak are exploring a strategic partnership to strengthen youth empowerment, leadership development, and community engagement across Sarawak.

The collaboration was discussed during a courtesy visit by an AZAM Sarawak delegation to Curtin Malaysia on 23 June, where both organisations exchanged ideas on initiatives that combine academic excellence with grassroots youth development. The meeting focused on creating opportunities that will equip young Sarawakians with leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.

Curtin Malaysia Pro Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive Professor Vincent Lee said the partnership reflects the university’s commitment to producing graduates who are academically accomplished, socially responsible, and globally minded. By leveraging AZAM Sarawak’s extensive community networks and Curtin Malaysia’s academic expertise, both organisations aim to create meaningful programmes that contribute to Sarawak’s human capital development.

During the visit, AZAM Sarawak invited Curtin Malaysia students to participate in the Premier of Sarawak Debate Challenge Cup 2026, which will take place this August at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). Students were also encouraged to join the AZAM Young Souls volunteer network and the AZAM Toastmasters Club to further develop their leadership, public speaking, and community service skills.

Both organisations concluded the meeting by expressing their commitment to exploring long-term collaborations that will create impactful opportunities for students and empower communities throughout Sarawak.
