Business Journalism Awards Celebrates 10th Anniversary with 34 Honors for Outstanding Journalists

The School of Communication (SCOM) held the 10th HSUHK Business Journalism Awards Ceremony on 23 April, marking a milestone year with 34 awards presented to 15 media organisations from over 600 entries. Officiated by Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau, the event recognised excellence across multiple reporting categories.

Huang Wenqi of HK01 received the “Business Journalist of the Year,” while Lau Siu-yee earned “Young Business Journalist of the Year.” Other honours covered areas such as business news reporting, ESG, technology, and Greater Bay Area coverage, with winners including major outlets like TVB, RTHK, Ming Pao, and Bloomberg Businessweek (Chinese Edition).

Speakers highlighted the critical role of quality journalism in supporting informed decision-making. HSUHK President Simon S M Ho emphasised that while technology evolves, professional judgement remains essential. SCOM Dean Scarlet Tso also underscored the importance of ethical reporting amid rapid digital transformation.
