Curtin Malaysia’s Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Receives Six-Year Accreditation

Miri, Sarawak – On September 19, 2025, Curtin University Malaysia announced that its Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Honours) programme has been granted full accreditation for six years, covering the period from 2026 to 2031, by the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC).

This accreditation indicates that the programme satisfies the stringent standards outlined by the Washington Accord and other international criteria. As a result, graduates will be recognized by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), which enhances their professional prospects within Malaysian and international engineering sectors.

Quality and Reputation

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Professor Tuong-Vu Thuy, expressed that the accreditation is indicative of the programme’s quality and reflects Curtin Malaysia’s growing reputation in engineering education. Graduates are recognized for being industry-ready and possessing the skills necessary for success in evolving global industries.

Curriculum and Student Achievements

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering emphasizes a curriculum that merges theoretical knowledge with practical applications, supported by state-of-the-art laboratories and strong industry collaborations. Recent achievements by students include winning first place at the IEEE R10 SAC Video Contest 2023 and securing awards at the International Final Year Project Competition & Exhibition (I-CPEX) 2023.
