‘Thammasat Medical Skill and Education Center’ enhances the capacity of the ‘Health workforce’ with ‘technologies-innovations’

A state-of-the-art 8-story building with a usable area of ​​more than 32,000 square meters facilitated with medical technologies and innovations of international standards which locates within Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus, sited the “Thammasat Medical Skill and Education Center” under the management of the Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University.

This Medical Skill and Education Center is not only a space to exchange knowledge and practice skills for Thammasat University students. It is also open to provide Up Skill academic services to the ‘health workforce-multidisciplinary personnel’ in the health system as well as being a ‘training hub’ for the public, and various organizations and units.

This building will be a central space for students from all faculties in the Thammasat Well Being Center which consists of Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Public Health and Chulabhorn International College of Medicine.

At the same time, it will also serve as a central area for medical personnel, including Residents, Fellows, and General Practitioners, and a training center for personnel, local government organization, Village Health Volunteers (VHVs), as well as organizations-agencies that are required to have knowledge and skills in medicine.

The construction of the Thammasat Medical Skill and Education Center (TMED) received funding from the Budget Office, The Ministry of Finance (MOF), amounting to more than 400 million Thai baht, can be said to have been established from the national budget, the management team of the skills training center building therefore intend to use it to the utmost benefit for good sake of the people in accordance with the aspiration, ‘University for the people’.

On the 1st floor of this 8-story building, there is a forensic science laboratory. There are autopsy services and preparation of reports for the examination of dead bodies in the area of ​​responsibility in 4 main places within Pathum Thani Province, namely the area of ​​Khlong Luang Provincial Police Station, Thanyaburi Provincial Police Station, Khlong Ha Provincial Police Station, and Pratunam Chulalongkorn Provincial Police Station.

The 2nd floor: Anatomy Laboratory Center, which has 2 anatomy laboratories, 2 microscope laboratories, and a virtual 3D anatomy simulator laboratory. The 3rd and 4th floors are parking lots that can accommodate 210 cars.

The 5th floor: Cadaveric Surgical Skill Training Center is a modern center for surgical training in cadaver which can support live streaming to classrooms and meeting rooms simultaneously, consisting of 1 operating room with live streaming system, 2 lecture rooms, 3 cadaver rooms with a total of 36 beds.

The 6th floor: Clinical Skill Center is the largest medical skills examination center in the country that meets international standards and is a national and international level examination center. It consists of a total of 48 exam rooms and 12 clinical skills training centers with a capacity to hold up to 80 test takers per exam round and can organize both internal and external exams totaling over 100 times per year.

The 7th floor: Clinical Simulation Center, which has a simulation room consisting of a control room and a group discussion room. This allows training in caring for patients before arriving at the hospital called prehospital care or emergency medical service (EMS) and will be a center for training in patient care skills for personnel in the hygiene field and on the 8th floor, the Faculty of Medicine Convention Center consists of a conference room with 500 seats and a meeting room with 300 seats.

In addition, there are 11 classrooms with a capacity of 30-50 seats, 3 classrooms with a capacity of 100 seats, 1 classroom with a capacity of 150 seats, office room, building control room, and audio-visual equipment control room.
