University of Jordan Celebrates 12,519 Graduates in Final Al-Hawashim Cohort Ceremony

The University of Jordan (UJ) has concluded graduation celebrations for its 61st graduating class, the Al-Hawashim Cohort, with 12,519 students completing bachelor’s, graduate and Higher Diploma in Teacher Preparation programmes.
The graduating class included 9,372 bachelor’s students, 1,469 graduates from postgraduate programmes and 1,678 students who completed the Higher Diploma in Teacher Preparation. Women represented around two-thirds of graduates at the bachelor’s and graduate levels.
At the closing ceremony, UJ President Prof. Nathir Obeidat encouraged graduates to view their degree as the beginning of a new journey and to combine knowledge and ambition with compassion, integrity and responsibility. He urged them to contribute positively to their communities and remain connected to the values developed during their university years.
Vice President Prof. Ziad Hawamdeh highlighted UJ’s mission to develop graduates capable of thinking critically, turning knowledge into action and transforming challenges into opportunities. He emphasized that graduates should be judged not only by academic achievements but also by the impact they make on society.
The multi-day celebrations also recognized outstanding students and individuals who have contributed to UJ’s development. Families and university communities joined graduates in marking the milestone.
Named in recognition of the Hashemite family’s role in Jordan’s nation-building, the Al-Hawashim Cohort also coincided with several major national occasions, including Jordan’s 80th Independence Day.
