Suranaree University of Technology Implements 100% TCASFolio for TCAS Round 1 to Promote Equal Access to Higher Education

Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) has announced the full implementation of the standardised digital portfolio system, TCASFolio, for Round 1 (Portfolio) admissions under the Thai University Central Admission System (TCAS). The initiative aims to create greater equality in education by ensuring that student selection focuses on individual potential, achievements, and authentic academic profiles rather than financial advantages or portfolio design.

The move supports the policy direction of Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, which introduced TCASFolio as a free central platform to reduce educational inequality and lower the financial burden on students and families. The system is designed to prevent disparities caused by costly private portfolio preparation services and encourage universities to evaluate applicants based on the quality and substance of their work.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sitthichai Saengsathit, Acting President of SUT, stated that the university has long embraced the vision of being an “opportunity-driven university,” guided by the principle that “if students are capable of learning, they should have the opportunity to learn.” He emphasised that adopting TCASFolio will help ensure a transparent, fair, and inclusive admissions process.

As one of the first universities to fully adopt TCASFolio, SUT aims to provide students with a convenient digital platform for collecting and submitting achievements while improving the accuracy and credibility of application information. The system also includes verification mechanisms to help prevent false claims or misrepresentation of achievements.
