Tarsus University Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Özen Attends the 264th Interuniversity Council Meeting

The 264th Interuniversity Council (ÜAK) Meeting was held on June 25, 2026, Thursday, with the participation of the President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, the President of the Interuniversity Council, Prof. Dr. Hüsnü Kapu, and rectors from universities across Türkiye. The meeting, hosted by YÖK, was also attended by Prof. Dr. Ali Özen, Rector of Tarsus University.
The session addressed key issues on the higher education agenda, focusing on the ongoing transformation of universities toward quality-oriented and innovative education systems. Discussions highlighted major strategic priorities, including internationalization, micro-credentials, university–industry collaboration, and employment-oriented education models aligned with the “Roadmap for Turkish Higher Education Towards 2030.”
Participants also exchanged views on strengthening universities’ roles in education, research, and social contribution. Institutional accreditation processes were reviewed as part of efforts to enhance quality assurance across higher education institutions.
In addition, the meeting emphasized the growing importance of digital transformation in academia, particularly the development of artificial intelligence-based and technology-driven academic programs. These initiatives aim to better prepare students for evolving labor market demands and future skill requirements.
The 264th ÜAK Meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthen cooperation among universities and advance Türkiye’s higher education system in line with global standards of excellence, innovation, and sustainability.
