NUST SMME Hosts Tongwon University Delegation to Strengthen Korea–Pakistan Academic Cooperation

The NUST School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (SMME) recently welcomed a distinguished academic delegation from Tongwon University, Republic of Korea, under the Korean-Pakistan Educational Corridor (KPEC) programme. The delegation was led by Professor Dr. Jongin Choi, President of Tongwon University, accompanied by members of his academic team. Joining the visit was Dr. Khurram Iqbal, President of the Consortium for Asia Pacific and Eurasian Studies (CAPES), along with his delegation.
During the visit, the guests were warmly received by SMME faculty members and engaged in productive discussions on areas of shared academic and research interest. The delegation also toured SMME’s advanced research laboratories, gaining insight into the school’s state-of-the-art engineering facilities and ongoing research activities.
The programme included meetings with NUST Pro-Rector Academics, Dr. Osman Hassan, and representatives from the NUST International Office, including Dr. Sahar. Discussions focused on strengthening academic cooperation through joint research projects, student and faculty exchange programmes, and opportunities for technology transfer.
Both institutions expressed a strong commitment to developing long-term collaborative partnerships that will benefit the academic and research communities of Pakistan and the Republic of Korea. The visit represents an important milestone in fostering international engagement, innovation, and knowledge exchange between the two countries.
