UNITAR and D’Tandoor Forge Strategic Partnership to Boost Talent Development for Visit Malaysia Year 2026

In support of Visit Malaysia Year 2026, UNITAR University College Kuala Lumpur (UNITAR) and D’Tandoor Food Industries Sdn Bhd have formalised a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aimed at strengthening industry–academia collaboration and enhancing workforce readiness in Malaysia’s hospitality and culinary sectors.
The agreement was signed during D’Tandoor’s 33rd Anniversary Media Appreciation Night held at Michelin Restaurant, Roti by d’Tandoor. The collaboration is designed to provide UNITAR students with valuable real-world exposure, particularly in professional culinary environments, enabling them to gain practical skills and improve employability within the tourism industry.
UNITAR Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, Dr. Jagdeep Singh Jassel, emphasised that such partnerships are essential in bridging academic learning with industry practice, ensuring graduates are equipped with relevant skills, adaptability, and job readiness to support the nation’s tourism growth.
Representing the industry partner, D’Tandoor International Group Chairman, Dato’ Seri Dr. Abdul Malik bin Abdullah, highlighted the organisation’s commitment to nurturing skilled talent through knowledge sharing, access to industry facilities, and hands-on experience.
The MoU was witnessed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Shaharuddin bin Abu Sohot. The collaboration reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen graduate employability, with UNITAR reporting a 98 per cent employability rate through sustained industry engagement and applied learning initiatives.
