Bakathir Museum Exhibition Arrives at Falaki Theater via Hadhramout Partnership

AUC and Hadhramout Culture Foundation Partner to Bring Bakathir Museum to Falaki Theater, Reviving Arab Literary Heritage Through Contemporary Performance
The American University in Cairo has partnered with the Hadhramout Culture Foundation to present the acclaimed theatrical production Bakathir Museum at the Falaki Mainstage Theater, celebrating 115 years of the influential Arab writer Ali Ahmad Bakathir. Staged at AUC’s Tahrir Square campus, the production reimagines Bakathir’s literary legacy through a contemporary theatrical experience that blends drama, music, and visual media. Directed by Ahmed Fouad, the play transforms the stage into a “living museum,” bringing characters and ideas to life for modern audiences. As part of a broader cultural initiative, the collaboration also introduces the Bakathir Annual Award in Literature, aimed at nurturing young talent. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to preserving Arab heritage while fostering innovation and engagement across generations.
