University of Liverpool’s Delegation Visit to Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU)
A delegation from the University of Liverpool, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Tim Jones, visited Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) on July 29, 2025. The delegation was welcomed by Zhang Liqun, President of XJTU and a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, at the university’s iHarbour facility.
University Collaboration and Partnerships
During the meeting, Zhang emphasized the University of Liverpool’s reputation as a leader in higher education innovation and identified it as a reliable strategic partner for XJTU. The collaboration between the two institutions is highlighted through the Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), recognized for its achievements in interdisciplinary education, talent development, and scientific research.

In response to emerging challenges within the global higher education landscape, both universities expressed a commitment to enhancing cooperation in key areas, including artificial intelligence, low-carbon technology, and healthy aging.
