ICCR 2025: International Conference on Compressors and Refrigeration Launches in Xi’an

The 10th International Conference on Compressors and Refrigeration (ICCR 2025) commenced on July 10 at the Xi’an International Conference Center. The conference hosted discussions on various technologies related to compressors, refrigeration, heat pumps, and hydrogen utilization, organized into eight thematic tracks.

Over 500 attendees, including experts from prominent universities, research institutions, and enterprises across the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Pakistan, participated in the event to share insights and explore advancements in the field.

Morning Sessions

During the morning session, Professor Xi Guang from Xi’an Jiaotong University presented on breakthroughs in centrifugal compressors, highlighting the relationship between academic research and industrial applications. Professor Ahmed Kovacevic from St George’s University in London introduced emerging technologies for positive-displacement compressors and expanders, focusing on advanced fluid machinery simulations.

Professor Stefan Elbel from Technische Universität Berlin discussed systemic trends in air conditioning, refrigeration, and heat pumps, while Professor Vikrant Aute from the University of Maryland examined smart heat exchanger designs aimed at enhancing the sustainability of thermal systems through new optimization frameworks.

Afternoon Sessions

In the afternoon session, Professor Yunting Ge from London South Bank University explored the use of metal hydrides in high-pressure hydrogen compressors, suggesting potential advancements in hydrogen energy. Professor Andrej Kitanovski from the University of Ljubljana presented on solid-state cooling and heat pumps, transitioning from theoretical concepts to practical industrial heating applications.

Professor Hoseong Lee from Korea University addressed thermal management strategies for electric vehicle batteries and energy storage solutions, while Associate Professor Guo Yi from Xi’an Jiaotong University analyzed the technical challenges faced in hydrogen-focused high-pressure compressors, identifying key obstacles within the industry.
