Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Welcomes the Princess Royal at Chula for Women in Science Awards

Chulalongkorn University welcomed Her Royal Highness Anne, The Princess Royal of the United Kingdom, during a distinguished visit celebrating women’s achievements in science and technology. The visit was marked by a private meeting with Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, reflecting the close ties between the Thai and British royal families and their shared support for higher education and scientific advancement.

Jointly organised by Chulalongkorn University and Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, the event recognised outstanding women researchers and innovators through fellowships and awards. The Princess Royal also toured an exhibition showcasing research and innovation by Thai women scientists, featuring projects addressing global challenges in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, artificial intelligence, healthcare, education, and biodiversity.

During the ceremony, The Princess Royal presented fellowships and awards to women making significant contributions to science and technology while highlighting the importance of international collaboration in advancing research and innovation. She also met several researchers whose projects have benefited from partnerships supported by United Kingdom programmes.

The royal visit underscored the strong and enduring cooperation between Thailand and the United Kingdom in higher education, scientific research, and innovation. It also reaffirmed Chulalongkorn University’s commitment to promoting excellence, empowering women in STEM, and strengthening global partnerships that drive impactful research and sustainable development.
