Guest Lecture by Chinese Universities at Universitas Syiah Kuala’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

On June 23, 2025, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Universitas Syiah Kuala hosted a guest lecture presented by representatives from two Chinese institutions, Guangdong Ocean University (GDOU) and Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU). A delegation of 11 members from these universities participated in the event.
Guest Lecture Highlights
The lecture, led by Professor Xuefeng Wang, featured presentations that outlined opportunities for master’s and doctoral studies in China, alongside information about various training programs and scholarships for prospective students. The event took place in the FKH USK auditorium, where an Implementing Arrangement was formalized between four study programs at FKH USK and the College of Coastal Agriculture at GDOU.
Collaboration Opportunities
Professor Wang conveyed the interest of GDOU and SHOU in collaborating with FKH USK, particularly in the areas of research and education focused on aquatic animal health and conservation. He expressed the hope that faculty and students from FKH USK would consider pursuing postgraduate studies at the Chinese institutions, supported by available scholarships. Additionally, he mentioned the plan for the Chinese universities to send speakers to a conference at FKH USK scheduled for October.

Support for this initiative was expressed by Universitas Syiah Kuala’s Rector, Professor Dr. Ir. Marwan, who stated that the partnership aligns with the university’s goal of becoming a World Class University and promoting the Sustainable Development Goals.
Overview of FKH USK
During the session, Drh. Teuku Reza Ferasyi, MSc., Ph.D., Dean of FKH USK, provided an overview of the faculty, discussing its expertise, laboratory facilities, and accreditation status. The event garnered interest from faculty members, students, staff, and representatives from the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association (PDHI) Aceh Branch.
